An impending labour strike at Grand River Transit means that public transit buses in Waterloo Region may not be running as of 12:01am on the morning of Tuesday January 14, 2020. ION train service WILL continue to operate. The Students’ Union advises all students who rely on Grand River Transit to look for alternative transportation to the Waterloo campus.

There are several alternative transportation initiatives which service the university, including Laurier’s organizational membership in the Region of Waterloo’s TravelWise student carpool program. More information can be found here.

The Students’ Union is monitoring this situation closely, and will communicate any developments as soon as they are available.

Additional information about the service interruption is available below through links to the Region of Waterloo, Grand River Transit, and Unifor Local 4304.
