A Message from your Students' Union President and CEO, Ben Jesseau.

Dear Golden Hawks, 

It is hard for me to believe we are already at the end of this academic year; it honestly feels like just yesterday that we were moving 1st years into residence and welcoming all of you back to our campuses. This year has been nothing short of amazing – weather it was cheering on our football team to a Yates Cup championship, attending tons of amazing events on campus, or just spending time with our fellow golden hawks – it has been a true honour to have been able to be a part of the Laurier community this year as President. 

This year has brought about so many amazing opportunities for Laurier students, and it has been filled with so many moments that make me incredibly proud to be a Golden Hawk. The students and community at Laurier are truly what makes this place special, and every single one of you are a key part that. The community here is what made me choose Laurier 5 years ago, and it is what has made me love it here every day since. 

To those of you who are moving on from Laurier this year, I hope you are incredibly proud of everything you have done with your time here. Your time at university was undoubtable challenging at times, but every single one of you have made a real and significant impact on our community and have contributed to a legacy that will last for years to come.   

To all of you who are coming back to campus next year, I hope you continue to take advantage of every opportunity this amazing community has to offer. Continue to build on the foundation that we have laid this year – and continue to make Laurier a special place for everyone. Know that I am always cheering you on from the sidelines and remember to really take in every opportunity you have, it goes by way to fast. 

On a personal note, words really are not enough to convey the gratitude I have for the entire Laurier community for giving me the honour of serving as the Students’ Union President this year. This has been one of the most impactful, memorable, and fun years of my life – so thank you for being a part of it. This is an opportunity that I have never taken for granted and is one I will remember for the rest of my life. As my team and I get ready to leave office, I hope that you are leaving this year with as many amazing memories as we are, and I wish you all the best in whatever your next adventure is. 

Thank you again Laurier – it has been the honour of a lifetime to work, live, and learn alongside each and every one of you.
