Deputy Returning Officer (Brantford)

Under the primary guidance of Chief Returning Officer, with assistance from the Chair of the Board’s elections portfolio, you are responsible for the local conditions of the Annual General Meeting for the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union on the Brantford campus, including the administration of the polling stations, and ruling on election matters. More specifically, you are accountable for all activities encompassing the election period on the Brantford campus, with the cooperation of the Chief Returning Officer and Chair of the Board.

JOB TYPE: Part-time, contract (5hrs weekly in Dec, 10hrs weekly Jan 3-Jan 22, 35hrs weekly Jan 23-29)

SALARY: Hanorarium of $1,125.00

REPORTS TO: Chief Returning Officer

EDUCATION: Pursuing or recently completed a post-secondary degree on the Brantford campus

TECHNICAL: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows

HOSPITALITY (Brantford)

The Hospitality Services department oversees all hospitality operations of the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union on the Waterloo and Brantford campuses. Our operations consist of Wilf’s Restaurant & Bar and The Turret on the Waterloo campus, and Golden Grounds on the Brantford campus. Along with the daily aspects of a restaurant and nightclub/bar operations, a variety of catering and special events are held within the establishments. Reporting to Golden Grounds Supervisor & Hospitality Special Project Manager, the Golden Grounds Crew member serves patrons through processing and completing customers’ orders accurately and efficiently, providing accurate information to assist food and beverage selections, all well ensuring to maintain cafe ambiance. In addition, the incumbent will assist in the execution of service during special events. In order to fulfill the aforementioned duties, the Golden Grounds Crew member must be extremely well organized, detail oriented, have strong interpersonal skills and excellent time management skills

EDUCATION: Ontario Secondary School Diploma, currently enrolled in a postsecondary institution

TECHNICAL: Smart Serve certification, and proficiency in Point-of-Sale systems, experience in a similar restaurant environment and Safe Food Handlers certification an asset

HOSPITALITY FRONT-OF-HOUSE SHIFT LEAD (Waterloo)

The Hospitality Services department oversees all hospitality operations of the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union on the Waterloo and Brantford campuses. Our operations consist of Wilf’s Restaurant & Bar and The Turret on the Waterloo campus, and Golden Grounds on the Brantford campus. Along with the daily aspects of a restaurant and nightclub/bar operations, a variety of catering and special events are held within the establishments. Reporting to the Guest Services Manager Waterloo, the Front of House Shift Lead will be focused on the daily operations within our business establishments on the Waterloo campus. The incumbent will be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, be extremely well organized, detail oriented, have strong interpersonal skills and excellent time management skills.

EDUCATION: Pursuing or completed a post-secondary degree or diploma in hospitality services/culinary

TECHNICAL: Smart Serve Safe Food Handlers and Emergency First Aid certifications an asset, proficiency in Point-of-Sale systems and experience in a similar restaurant environment required
