Staying Healthy & Safe at Laurier (Waterloo)

Your first year at university is going to be a crazy, new fun experience but sometimes being in a new environment can be a bit overwhelming. While it’s important to have a good time, it’s important to stay mentally and physically healthy as well as to always be aware of your surroundings.

Here are some of the essential services offered on the Waterloo Campus. This way, if you’re ever unsure of who to call or where to go, you can come back to this list!

Emergency Response Team (ERT)

The Emergency Response Team provides on-call advanced first aid on campus from 3:00pm-3:00am every day of the week.

You can also book them for on-site event support here:

Foot Patrol

Foot Patrol is a volunteer operated safe-walk program that is offered daily between 6:30pm-3:00am. Teams of two are assigned to bring you to or from campus by foot or by van. For a walk home, you can find them located on the Ground Floor of the Fred Nichols Campus Centre. If you live more than 2km from campus, they can drive you home, which just requires a one-time registration at this here:

Food Bank

The Food Bank provides food deliveries on a 24/7 basis confidentially supporting Laurier students. All dietary restrictions can be accommodated, and food packages typically last up to a week or more. All Laurier students are eligible to use this service to ensure they’re eating healthy when overwhelmed, stressed, or financially strained. You can register here for this program:

The Food Bank also hosts a Farmer’s Market every Wednesday in The Concourse form 9:30am-3:30pm. Make sure to stop by to pick up some fresh foods!
