Open Seat (Brantford Student)
There is currently one opportunity on the Students' Union Board of Directors for a Brantford-based undergraduate student, for a 1-year term commencing May 1, 2025.

The Students’ Union is a not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. This governing body determines the overall strategic purpose of the Students’ Union and provides broad organization oversight.
​
The Students’ Union Board of Directors is made up of 12 undergraduate students, with 2 spots reserved for individuals studying on the Brantford campus.
​
As members of the Board, your responsibilities are to:

Participate in training and put into practice the Policy Governance (Carver Model) system of corporate governance.

Prioritize attendance at all Board meetings.

Prepare for Board meetings by reading materials in advance in order to make informed decisions and positively contribute to respectful debate.

Understand that while individual directors will bring their respective questions, opinions, and suggestions to debate, the Board makes a collective decision through majority vote.

Avoid conflict of interest with respect to the Board’s fiduciary responsibility.

Participate in evaluation of operational performance and self-evaluation of the Board’s performance based on established metrics.

Eligibility: Any Laurier undergraduate student registered on the Brantford campus is eligible to run for the current open seat on the Board of Directors for the 2025-2026 term.

Nomination packages can be submitted to sucro@wlu.ca and suboardchair@wlu.ca or in person to the SU Desk at the Students' Union office in Brantford by March 7, 2025 at 12:00 NOON.
​
The election will be facilitated by the Students' Union Board of Directors and will be held on March 10, 2025 at 7:00pm in the Students' Union's Brantford Boardroom (online participation available).
